Inspired by the Gospel of Luke 1:39-45, this painting depicts Mary traveling toward Elizabeth in the hill country of Jerusalem. Elizabeth is pregnant with St. John the Baptist, although in her "sunset years" and Mary comes, bringing the light of dawn and carrying the ark of the New Covenant. Painfully shy as a child, Jen was unable to communicate with anyone outside her family except through drawing. Visual language was her first language and she never lost her passion for its ability to communicate for her. There was never a day she "decided" to become an artist. For Jen, there was just no other way to be. Jen Norton is a graduate of Santa Clara University where she earned a Bachelors degree in Fine Art, with a Minor in Business. Jen worked as a Graphic Designer in the Silicon Valley where developing marketing communications materials helped push her from purely personal expression to full conversation.
