Artist's Description
This is an acrylic painting of Mother Teresa of Kolkata, canonized on Sept 4, 2016. In her garments are the illustrations of the corporal works of Mercy... the works of service given by her order of women in the Missionaries of Charity to the "poorest of the poor". Surrounding her are the patterns and colors of India, with her words, "Works of Love are Works of Peace" designed in a decorative pattern. Artwork by award-winning artist Jen Norton. About Jen Norton
Painfully shy as a child, Jen was unable to communicate with anyone outside her family except through drawing. Visual language was her first language and she never lost her passion for its ability to communicate for her. There was never a day she "decided" to become an artist. For Jen, there was just no other way to be. Jen Norton is a graduate of Santa Clara University where she earned a Bachelors degree in Fine Art, with a Minor in Business. Jen worked as a Graphic Designer in the Silicon Valley where developing marketing communications materials helped push her from purely personal expression to full conversation.
